NEMAUSUS - S1

Nîmes La Romaine
How do you bring back the grandeur of Nîmes (Nemausus) as it stood 2,000 years ago without forcing visitors to download an app? The challenge was twofold: high-fidelity 3D immersion running smoothly in any mobile browser, and absolute historical accuracy — all within a very tight six-month development schedule.
METASENSE chose a Web App (PWA) to guarantee universal, instant access from a simple QR code, ideal for tourist flows and school groups. We deployed a “commando” team of six experts working in agile, acting not as a supplier but as a strategic partner, leading ideation, cultural interpretation and technical design hand in hand with Aura (formerly EDEIS) and the Musée de la Romanité.
The core of the experience is WebGL, used to render the monuments and animated scenes of daily life in 3D. To guide users without losing them, we built a spline editor that produces immersive, cinematic camera moves.
The experience is completed by AI-generated multilingual narration (ElevenLabs), an augmented reality encyclopaedia and a gamification mechanic. On the management side, we built a custom-built CMS and a KPI dashboard so the client can run the tool in complete autonomy.
The result is a cultural interpretation experience unlike any other, accessible in one click, that turns a visit to the heritage of Nîmes into an interactive historical journey. In six months, METASENSE delivered a robust, scalable solution able to handle thousands of simultaneous connections, while giving site operators precise visibility on visitor engagement and a direct bridge to their physical shop through gamification.
